NCASI Board of Governors announces executive search

On May 20, Mr. Tommy Joseph, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement, announced the formal initiation of a search to fill the position of President and Chief Operating Officer of NCASI. The individual selected by the Board will succeed Dr. Ronald A. Yeske, who has announced his plans to retire later this year after having served as President and CEO for 20 years.

In announcing the search, Mr. Joseph said that “Dr. Yeske provided outstanding leadership during a period when NCASI’s scientific research was vitally important in ensuring that the environmental regulatory initiatives affecting the forest products industry were grounded in the best available science. Under his guidance, NCASI earned a well-deserved reputation as the best available source of meaningful information regarding the environmental performance of our industry. In recent years, NCASI also played a key role in developing credible scientific approaches that are being used widely to demonstrate the unique sustainability that characterizes this industry.”

Dr. Yeske has agreed to remain as President until his successor is identified and will assist in the transition of leadership to that individual.

The Executive Committee of the Board of Governors will direct the search for Dr. Yeske’s successor on behalf of the organization, and has created a Presidential Search Committee chaired by Mr. Joseph to undertake and manage the search process with assistance provided by Dr. Yeske. An announcement regarding the vacant position has been posted on the NCASI website.

The Search Committee will immediately begin the process of soliciting nominations from the scientific research community and from other stakeholders.

Individuals seeking consideration for this position are invited to contact Dr. Yeske directly with a letter of interest and supporting documentation, at or c/o NCASI, P.O. Box 13318, Research Triangle Park, NC 27709-3318. Initial contacts regarding this position will be held in strict confidence.

For further information, or to communicate a recommendation to the Search Committee, please contact Dr. Yeske at or (919) 941-6404.
