In Memoriam: Alan A. Lucier

Dr. Alan Lucier, NCASI Senior Vice President, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Al was a dedicated and insightful leader of NCASI for more than thirty years. In addition to being an accomplished professional, Al was a warm, friendly, stalwart presence in the NCASI community.  NCASI will greatly miss our friend and colleague.

First caribou research field season completed

In April 2013, 14 adult female caribou were successfully transported from Fairbanks, Alaska to a holding facility near Fort St. John, British Columbia (BC). Soon thereafter, final disease testing to pass the Canadian Food Inspection Agency quarantine was completed, and Phase II of the NCASI-University of Northern British Columbia caribou research project began. Current plans include two more field seasons using the tamed caribou in northeastern BC.

NCASI updates GHG Calculation Tools

NCASI first released Calculation Tools developed for facilities subject to the Canadian national GHG reporting program in 2005. NCASI recently revised the greenhouse (GHG) Calculation Tools for Canadian reporters in response to changes in the requirements of the Canadian national GHG reporting rules.

Publication of ISO 14067 technical specification on carbon footprint

Over many years, a body of research has developed examining the greenhouse gas and carbon attributes of forests and forest products. In that context, the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) published the ISO 14067 technical specification for the carbon footprints of products late last year.
