SIM-12-012: Guidelines for the Reduction of [MAPBAP] Dyes Released from Pulp and Paper Mills

Environment Canada published Guidelines for the Reduction of Dyes Released from Pulp and Paper Mills in the July 14, 2012, Canada Gazette – Part 1. There is a 60-day public comment period for providing input on this draft guideline. Note that while the proposed Guidelines are intended to meet the legislative requirements related to a single substance (MAPBAP acetate) in certain dyes used by the newsprint industry, they have been drafted in such a manner that would imply that the Guidelines may be amended in future to apply to other dyes that meet "CEPA toxic" criteria.
