Special Report No. 01-03: Evaluation of Three Organic Vapor Analyzers for Determining Leaks from Kraft Pulp Mill Non-Condensible Gas Collection Systems

Three portable organic vapor analyzers were tested in the laboratory and in the field to evaluate their suitability for detecting Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) leaks from kraft mill non-condensable gas collection systems according to EPA Method 21 requirements. The OVA 128 from Foxboro and TVA 1000 from Thermo Environmental Instruments, equipped with Flame Ionization Detectors (FIDs) and the PI-101 from HNU systems, equipped with a Photoionization Detector (PID), were tested on portions of Low Volume High Concentration (LVHC) and High Volume Low Concentration (HVLC) collection systems.
