Special Report No. 94-06: Information Presented at the October, 1993, AF&PA / NCASI Workshop on VOC Control Technologies for Solid Wood Manufacturing Plants

Information on five technologies with the potential for controlling emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) resulting from wood drying and pressing operations was presented at an October 1993 workshop. The five control technologies considered were (a) ultraviolet oxidation, (b) chemical scrubbing, (c) exhaust gas recirculation to a wood fuel combustion device, (d) biofiltration, and (e) regenerative thermal oxidation. For each of these technologies, this report summarizes available material on the status (as of late 1993) of the technology as applied in the wood products industry, including a listing of known pilot and full scale installations in the United States.
