Special Report No. 94-13: A Survey of the Pulp and Paper Industry Environmental Protection Expenditures – 1993

Based on a survey of the industry, capital expenditures for environmental protection at U.S. pulp and paper mills in 1993 were estimated to be $0.75 billion, with 46% of the total being for water quality protection, 37% for air quality protection, and 17% for solid waste disposal. Total 1993expenditures were the lowest of the last five years. Forecast environmental expenditures for 1994 are $0.95 billion.
