Special Report No. 96-02: Proceedings of the 1992 and 1993 SARA Section 313 Release Reports Filed by Forest Products Industry Manufacturing Facilities

1992 and 1993SARA Section 313 Form R submissions for pulp and paper mills, wood panel plants and sawmills are summarized. Total reported releases to air, water and land and total transfers to POTWS and other off-site treatment facilities are tabulated on an individual chemical basis and compared to those for prior reporting years. Reasons for year-to-year changes in totals and releases per unit of production for chemicals of importance are identified. For the same chemicals, total releases reported by pulp and paper mills and panel plants are compared to nationwide totals published by EPA. New “pollution prevention” reporting information is reviewed for kraft pulp mills for the three years (1991-1993) this information has been reported.
