Special Report No. 96-05: A Survey of Pulp and Paper Industry Environmental Protection Expenditures – 1995

Based on a survey of the industry, capital expenditures for environmental protection at U.S. pulp and paper mills in 1995 were estimated to be $0.62 billion, with 49% of the total being for water quality protection, 35% for air quality protection, and 16% for solid waste disposal. Total 1995 expenditures were around 15% lower than those reported for 1994. Forecast environmental expenditures for 1996 are $0.74 billion.
