Technical Bulletin No. 0006: Flax Pulping Waste Treatment Report

The problem of disposing of flax pulping wastes is a difficult one and one regarding which very little information is available in technical literature. The problem is difficult because of the color, high alkalinity, high B.O.D. and foaming propensities of the waste. While the report deals specifically with flax pulping wastes it should prove of interest to mills using semi-chemical pulping processes as the effluents from such processes exhibit characteristics similar in many respects to those from flax pulping operations.
