Technical Bulletin No. 0020: Manual for Calibration and Use of High-Volume Air Samplers in the Measurement of Suspended Particulate Matter (AQTB)

Since the accurate measurement of atmospherically suspended particulate matter is a necessary part of any complete air sampling program, considerable effort has been expended toward the development of improved means to accomplish this. In recent years, the high-volume sampler has gained wide acceptance for measuring the concentration of particulates in air. The attached National Council Atmospheric Pollution Technical Bulletin No. 20 was prepared by the National Council's University of Florida project, under the direction of Dr. E. R. Hendrickson and deals with the operation and application of this device. It is apparent from tests made with the sampler, that it is admirably suitable for the measurement of the relative atmospheric concentration of salt cake and the products of incomplete combustion in mill areas. The device is rugged, reasonably inexpensive, requires little maintenance and can be operated for long periods with a minimum of attention.
