Technical Bulletin No. 0073: Water Reuse Will Pay Off

Reduction of the high water requirement for bleaching pulp is of broad interest to the pulp and paper industry and when accompanied by a reduction in pollution load such procedure is of added significance. The attached bulletin, prepared by Mr. Fred V. Doutt and Mr. J. R. Fluharty of Champion Paper and Fibre Company, was presented at the recent South Central Meeting of the Council and describes various procedures for re-use of water in pulp bleaching, its effect on water requSrement.md the quantity of solids and oxygen consuming material discharged in the bleachery effluent. The effect of re-use on brightness of the bleached pulp obtained with various systems of water re-use is incorporated in this paper.
