Technical Bulletin No. 0101: Minutes of Meeting on Slime Infestations in Streams

Attached is a copy of the minutes of a technical meeting of representatives of various pulp and paper companies interested in river slime control, together with experts on microbiology carrying on research in this field. This is being distributed as a Technical Bulletin since the proceedings dealt almost entirely with technical matters of considerable importance. The minutes state the areas of agreement with respect to knowledge of river slime organisms, and include reports on procedures of study, and a plan of future research by the Council’s Rutgers Diversity Project and others. This group has agreed to prepare a manual containing methods of identification and measurement of slime growth for publication in 1958. Any company in the industry which has an interest in this problem is invited to participate in the coordinated research and information exchange program.
