Technical Bulletin No. 0108: Efficient Utilization of Water Resources for Industrial Waste Disposal

This study was made possible through cooperation of a member mill in supplying field data and information upon which many of the computation contained in this bulletin are based. This research has developed a method whereby, through waste retention, the total annual waste assimilation capacity of a stream can be employed and the receiving water maintained in a condition suitable for its usual downstream usages. In other words, the most advantageous use of the annual available stream dilution is made through waste discharge control rather than by upstream water impoundment and controlled release.
