Technical Bulletin No. 0118: Spray Irrigation of Certain Sulfate Pulp Mill Wastes

During recent years, there has been considerable interest expressed and substantial investigation made on the use of stabilized kraft mill effluents for irrigation. The crops grown on land so irrigated have been vegetables, forage and rice, and various irrigating procedures have been employed. The studies have included land disposal wherein the stabilized mill discharge is sprayed over waste or wooded lands. The attached paper describes such an operation at the Union Bag-Camp Paper Corporation mill, at Franklin, Virginia, and was made available for Council distribution through the courtesy of this Company and the author, Mr. Stuart C. Crawford.
