Technical Bulletin No. 0141: Progress on the Potomac

The attached paper, National Council Technical Bulletin No. 141, was presented by Mr. George M. Griffith, Maintenance Superintendent, West Virginia Pulp & Paper Company, at the Annual Meeting of Members held in February 1961. This paper deals with a unique arrangement whereby the effluent of the Luke, Maryland, mill is treated jointly with the sewage of five municipalities by the activated sludge process after removal and disposal of settleable solids at the mill. Mr. Griffith reviews the background of the development of this extraordinary project which involved many complex legal, financial, and technical problems.
