Technical Bulletin No. 0142: Present and Future Availability of Water in the United States

During the past 50 years more than 20 committees or commissions of the Federal Government have investigated national water policies and problems. During the past year and a half, the Senate Select Committee on National Water Resources has assembled and published a group of reports covering various aspects of water resource activities. These investigations have brought out the close relation between water supply and waste disposal. As our demand for water increases, we satisfy an increasing percentage of these demands by reuse so that the waste of one industrial plant or city becomes a part of the water supply of another industrial plant or city. The National Council for Stream Improvement, whose primary interest is in pollution control and improvement of the quality of the water in our streams, has a definite interest in our present and future water supply.
