Technical Bulletin No. 0155: One Paper Company's Policies and Approach to the Pollution Problem

Considerable progress in the abatement of pollution has been achieved by Kimberly-Clark Corporation at its various mills. Mr. R. M. Billings, Asst. to the Vice President in Charge of Research and Development of this company, speaking at the Annual Meeting of Members of the National Council, recounted the policy and procedures of his organization in coping with the pollution problems arising from a wide variety of pulp and papermaking operations. Stressing the advantages of cooperation with government regulatory agencies, Mr. Billings pointed out the necessity of dealing with each situation as an individual problem, showing by examples that no universal solution to pollution problems exists. He noted the advantages of advanced positive thinking with respect to water pollution problems to the company's well being, stating that Kimberly-Clark's approach can be stated as follows: "Never substitute hope in the future for accomplishment in the present".
