Technical Bulletin No. 0221: Kraft Mill Waste Treatment in the United States — A Status Report
Appreciable progress has been made by the one hundred and thirteen kraft mills in the United States in applying appropriate effluent treatment processes and discharge controls. A survey, recently completed by the National Council staff, has documented the extent to which primary and secondary treatment are currently practiced. The survey showed that primary treatment will soon be a universal practice where receiving water needs dictate treatment, and that some form of secondary treatment is provided by nearly fifty percent of kraft mills.
