Technical Bulletin No. 0222: Treatment of Pulp and Paper Wastes in Publicly Owned Facilities
Toward the end of 1967, the National Council staff completed a survey of the current status of mill effluent treatment in publicly owned facilities. Its purpose was to determine the extent and cost of such treatment, characteristics of mills currently making use of public facilities - such use - as well as those considering and the impact of public construction grant programs, and to identify any trends that might be of interest to mills considering public treatment. The survey showed that 16 percent of the industry's mills employed public facilities as of early 1968, and that an additional 12 percent were involved in feasibility studies.
