Technical Bulletin No. 0258: Evaluation of Analytical Procedures for the Analysis of Selected Organic Compounds in Kraft Effluents

To an increasing degree the composition of kraft industry effluents discharged to receiving waters reflects changes induced by application of biological treatment. Both biodecomposition and volatilization during treatment can result in substantial reductions in content of certain biologically active materials capable of having adverse effects on aquatic life. In addition, in-plant process loss control measures have accomplished further reductions in such constituent levels prior to external treatment.
