Technical Bulletin No. 0310: Characterization of Various Condensate Streams in the Kraft Process

The reduction of in-process load by segregation at the source and its selective treatment or reuse is one method chosen to accommodate within existing treatment plant capacity the load associated with an increase in production. Since the condensates from digestion and evaporation are a major BOD source in pulp mill operations they are one of the streams 'normally singled out for consideration in effluent load reduction schemes. Selective treatment of these condensates as a means of effluent load reduction is currently practiced on a limited basis.
