Technical Bulletin No. 0322: A Review of Current Knowledge and Research on the Impact of Alternative Forest Management Practices on Receiving Water Quality

  The management of water quality has traditionally been focused on the contributions and control of point sources. There has, however, been an increasing recognition in recent years of the importance of nonpoint sources in comprehensive water quality management plans and this is now reflected in legislation and regulation addressed to the issue of water quality protection. Section 208 of the Clean Water Act and the regulations flowing from this section require that nonpoint sources be considered in basin water quality management plans.
