Technical Bulletin No. 0433: Field Evaluation of Continuous TRS Monitors on a Kraft Recovery Furnace

By early 1983, two new developments had taken place. First, a new generation of TRS monitoring equipment whose performance capability was not well documented was being offered to the industry. Second, EPA was in the process of finalizing Performance Specification 5, which included details on the procedure for testing TRS continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMSs) and specified acceptable levels of calibration drift and relative accuracy. In response to these developments, a laboratory and field study was conducted by NCASI in 1983 to evaluate the performance of several commercially available TRS monitors; this technical bulletin describes the results of that study.
