Technical Bulletin No. 0475: Effects of Biologically Treated Kraft Mill Effluent during Early Life Stage and Full Life Cycle Studies with Fish

This technical bulletin describes the observations of observed spawning success in the Southern Experimental Streams, and concurrent laboratory egg hatchability, larval growth and full life cycle tests for a number of warm water fish. Largmouth bass, bluegill sunfish and golden shiners spawned successfully in the experimental streams at effluent concentrations of about 9 percent by volume or 2.8 ppm BOD added. Laboratory hatchability of largemouth bass, bluegill sunfish, pumpkinseed sunfish, golden shiners and fathead minnows was not affected at 100 percent effluent concentration.
