Technical Bulletin No. 0676: Volatile Organic Emissions from Pulp and Paper Mill Sources, Part II – Lime Kilns, Smelt Dissolving Tanks and Miscellaneous Causticizing Area Vents

NCASI/Weston Heated SUMMA Canister Method, NCASI Chilled Impinger Method, RTI Draft Method for aldehydes and ketones, and EPA Method 25A were used to determine the emissions of volatile organic HAPs, selected volatile organics, and EPA Method 25A total VOCS from seven lime kilns, four smelt dissolving tanks, and a number of miscellaneous causticizing area vents. Selected process streams were also analyzed for their acetaldehyde, acetone, methanol and methyl ethyl ketone content. The average EPA Method 25A total VOC emissions from lime kilns, smelt dissolving tanks, and miscellaneous causticizing area vents were 0.
