Technical Bulletin No. 0731: A Procedure for Estimating Concentrations of Lipophilic Compounds in River Water and Fish

This guidance manual and the software it describes were developed to provide a realistic estimate of site-specific concentrations of lipophilic compounds in water, suspended organic carbon solids, and fish, which could then be applied in the development of mill-specific effluent limitations. The methodology consists of two software programs: RIVER and FISH. Using site-specific inputs provided by the user, the program RIVER dynamically models daily concentration of lipophilic compounds in water and on suspended organic carbon solids for as many as eight distinct river reaches and eight point source discharges.
