Technical Bulletin No. 0739: Volatile Organic Compound Emissions from Non-Chemical Pulp and Paper Mill Sources, Part IV – Deinking Processes

A dilution-probe ambient temperature canister method, a solid sorbent method, a modified Method 25A, a direct injection GC/FID method, a solvent extraction GC/MS process liquid analysis method, and EPA Method 8260 for volatiles were used to collect and analyze vent gas and process liquid samples from the deinking processes at four mills. The study found that the HAP emissions from these sources consisted primarily of chloroform, methanol, biphenyl, toluene, and acetaldehyde. The total HAP emissions from these processes ranged from 0.
