Technical Bulletin No. 0829: The Effects of a Bleached Kraft Mill Effluent on Periphyton and Macroinvertebrates in Streamside Mesocosm Studies

A mesocosm study was conducted to evaluate the margin of safety for effluent addition and healthy receiving water conditions for Codorus Creek, Pennsylvania. Codorus Creek is one of the study locations included in the NCASI Long-Term Receiving Water Studies and offers an opportunity to interface dose-response studies in experimental units with in-stream monitoring of natural populations. Experimental semi-recirculating streams were constructed on site at the bleached kraft host mill in Spring Grove.
