Background:

Dr. Milena Ponczek is an atmosphere and climate scientist with a wide range of research interests such as greenhouse gas quantification, biogenic emissions, volatile organic compounds and aerosol influences on climate, and various other topics. Before joining NCASI in February 2024, Milena acted as a consultant, developing projects with several businesses on subjects such as GHG emission inventories, decarbonization and net-zero strategies, and sustainability reporting. Previously, Milena was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) where her research was focused on the physicochemical characterization of aerosol lifecycle in the atmosphere, particularly on the influence of biomass burning in the Amazon region. Milena is also interested in science and climate communication, that is, how to translate the complexities of these subjects for audiences from different backgrounds.
