NCASI studies and technical analyses of emissions data from wood-fired combination boilers have resulted in an improved understanding of the factors driving sulfur capture in these units, acid gas (sulfuric, hydrochloric) formation and emissions, estimating the effectiveness of control strategies, and troubleshooting operational issues.  NCASI technical analyses in this area has also proven critical in the development of achievable standards for the recent Boiler MACT rulemaking.
