NCASI LCA Studies

NCASI has conducted a range of life cycle assessment (LCA) and carbon footprint studies, including industry-wide studies (e.g., for printing & writing products, corrugated products, etc.) and studies focused on specific aspects of the forest products value chain (e.g., benefits of using biomass residuals for energy, comparing biopathways, etc.). NCASI has worked to improve the quantification of the environmental characteristics of the industry’s full value chain and product life cycle, including forest management, through evaluating and communicating the complexities of LCA as applied to the forest products sector, and developing LCA methodologies that account for these complexities. These studies help our Member Companies and their stakeholders better understand the environmental aspects associated with the entire life cycle of forest products.
