SAF Award in Forest Science

Dr. George Ice (NCASI Fellow—retired) is the recipient of the 2012 Award in Forest Science from the Society of American Foresters (SAF). The Award recognizes distinguished individual research in any branch of the quantitative, managerial, and/or social sciences leading to the advancement of forestry.   

During his 35 years with NCASI, George led important research on many aspects of forest watershed management including studies of timber harvesting, roads, fire and herbicide applications. In service to the SAF, George served as chair of the Society’s Forest Science and Technology Board (2005-2006) and Water Resources Working Group (2001-2002).
